Comedian Dai Henwood reveals ‘very serious’ colon cancer diagnosis

Comedian Da Henwood says he has been diagnosed with stage four colon cancer.

In a message posted on his Instagram on Fridaysaid the 44-year-old was diagnosed with the disease nearly three years ago and has been on treatment since April 2020.

The comedian said the cancer started “in my gut, my liver and now my lungs.”

Henwood said he’s had half a dozen surgeries and 14 rounds of chemotherapy so far, but is currently taking a break from his treatment.

He said he was “working, laughing and loving life” and focused on some “great job opportunities” live and on TV.

“At this point I thought it was time to go public with my diagnosis,” he said in the video, adding that he couldn’t avoid the topic in his stand-up comedy or business talks.

“I’m an authentic person and it was such a big part of my life that I was hiding.” He added that if sharing his story helped one person, that’s great.

“Otherwise I love you all,” he said.

The son of actor Ray Henwoodstarted his comedy career in the late 1990s and won the Billy T Award in 2002.
