Comedian Paul Chowdhry has responded to a fan who saw him attacked by ‘thugs’ in his car on Friday night.
Paul, 47, is a regular at panel shows and the stand-up circuit in the UK, having previously presented Stand Up for the Week.
However, the beloved comic was involved in a terrifying incident earlier this week that prompted a fan to intervene.
He confirmed he had been attacked while “in his car” after the witness messaged him to make sure he was okay.
He posted screenshots of messages the concerned fan had sent him: ‘Hey Paul, was that you in New Oxford Street? It looked like some thugs were trying to attack you.’
They added: “I sent the police who had a few cars behind me, but I think you were already driving away by then.”
He told his followers on social media: ‘Yesterday in London I was attacked in my car. I’m fine and I’ll keep you posted as soon as possible.’
Fans of the star quickly sent their love and were relieved to hear that Paul was doing well.
Fellow comedian and Loose Women star Judi Love commented, ‘Omg, I hope you’re doing well their xxx’.
“Glad to hear you’re doing well, but what?!!” replied one fan.
Another added: Sorry to see this. I really hope all is well with you xx.’
Another wrote: ‘Don’t let it wake you up. Glad to hear you’re doing well.’
The Met Police told metro.co.uk that they have not yet received notification of the incident.
It comes after Paul, who is of Indian Punjabi Sikh descent, told Gaby Roslin that he had been the victim of racially motivated attacks in the past.
“I’ve been attacked, a lot has happened to me,” he told the TV star, on her That Gaby Roslin Podcast.
“But you can’t let it affect you, you know it’s part of human nature, some of the dark sides.”
