A 64-year-old truck driver charged with the murder of a coffin maker claimed he had had a sexual relationship with her, but ended it because of the 44-year age difference, a court heard today.
Neculai Paizan is accused of hitting Hungary’s Agnes Akom more than 20 times in the head in a converted shipping container in Brent, north-west London, on 9 May last year.
Born in Romania, Paizan put the 20-year-old’s body in a wheelie bin but moved it to a park and buried it in a shallow grave under a pile of logs, jurors have heard.
Ms Akom was reported missing on May 11 and her body had not been found for a month.
The last person she contacted on her phone was Paizan, and the last area where her phone was used was by the Lennox Autos car dealership next to the shipping container.
On May 18, officers went to Lennox Autos, found the nearby container empty and began to search it. Paizan arrived as the police began their search.
Prosecutors told the Old Bailey that the truck driver was returning from a visit to Neasden Recreation Ground, where he had buried Mrs. Akom.
Paizan visited the site six times in the days after he dumped the body, the court heard.

A police officer told Paizan that they were trying to find Mrs. Akom and asked if he knew where she was.
“Of course he did, because he had been twice that day where he had hidden her body,” said Mr. Hallam.
Paizan is said to have told the officer that he had last seen Mrs Akom in Cricklewood two weeks ago.
He said they went to Sainsburys together and then drove to the container where she stayed for 15 minutes before dropping her off at a nearby Asda.
He is also said to have told police that Mrs Akom had spoken to someone on the phone and that she would meet them in Croydon.
Another officer asked Paizan if he had a sexual relationship with Ms. Akom.
The prosecutor said: ‘He said he’d done that two or three times, but not for a year or so before.
“He said he was shy and she was too young.

The discovery was made by police officers looking for Ms Akom after she disappeared in May
“He said she always wanted him to give or lend her money and she had too many friends.
“He said he didn’t like this situation.
“He suggested that the officers check the surveillance cameras on the container.”
Paizan was taken to Wembley Police Station and questioned as a witness.
In the interview, he told the officers that he had met Ms Akom 18 months earlier, the court heard.
“He’d seen her begging,” Mr Hallam said.
“He said they had had a sexual relationship but that he ended it because she was too young.”
Paizan estimated from officers that they had had sex 10-15 times, including at the container, jurors heard.
Mr Hallam continued: ‘He told police in that witness hearing that he picked up Agnes on 9 May and took her to an address in Willesden where she entered for 10-15 minutes.
‘They had stopped by the container for a while.
“While they were in the container, they hugged each other, but she told them to go.
“Then he took her to the Asda in Park Royal, where they broke up.”
After the interview, Paizan was labeled a suspect because his account did not match the CCTV footage he told police to check, the court heard.
Hours later, around 11:30 p.m., Paizan was arrested on suspicion of murder and false imprisonment.
Paizan denies murder and the trial continues.
