Where is Coronation Street filmed?
On-screen events and reality are sometimes globally separated, but far from Coronation Street.
In 2014, Production decided to vacate the old Granada Studios on Key Street in Manchester.
All cameras and stars have been moved to MediaCityUK’s dedicated 7.7 acre site.
MediaCity is located on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal in Salford and Trafford.
The MediaCity set was built on a larger scale than Granada Studios.
The new set also includes a Costa Coffee shop, a co-operative, a new curry house and a community garden.
However, most interior scenes are still shot in the studio.
The set includes all the iconic Corrie landmarks such as The Rovers Return, Roy’s Rolls and The Bistro.
There is also the appearance of the character’s house on the street.
From March 2022, as early as autumn, MediaCityUK will begin construction of the new additions to the set.
Thorpe Boss announced the opening of a construction site in the Weatherfield area on March 9. This is often mentioned in dialogue between characters.
