LES Dennis has been revealed as Countdown’s new host after the final episode of Anne Robinson aired earlier this month.

Colin Murray temporarily replaced Anne until the end of this year, but The will be boarding for a limited time during the month of August.

Les is known for presenting Family Fortunes between 1987 and 2002, as well as playing Michael Rodwell in Coronation Street and appear in Ricky Gervais‘Extras.

He recently joined the Only fools and horses musically like grandpa.

Dennis announced his role as guest host and posted on Twitter: “I will be hosting the iconic Countdown.

“It’s such an honor. I hope you enjoy it.’

Robinson had hosted the iconic game show for just over a year and when she announced her departure she said she “stayed longer than she signed up for”.

The show’s previous regular hosts are included Nick Hewer, Jeff Stelling, Des O’Connor and Des Lynam.

It has also been seen Richard Whiteley host, who was the show’s original host and sat on it for 23 years until his death in 2005.

When Murray was announced as temporary host in May, he said on Twitter that he “as the assistant manager got the job until the end of the season”.

He also added that it is an “absolute honor” to host his “favorite show ever”.

In the meantime, Rachel Riley wrote prior to Murray’s first show that he is a “sweet guy” who “loves the show, the game, the contestants and the team and we all love him”.

A permanent replacement for Robinson has yet to be announced, but Hewer previously said his personal choice would be Murray or . would be Gyles Brandreth.
