Cristiano Ronaldo was open to a £210m mega transfer from Man Utd to Saudi Arabia with a deal that failed only over the transfer ban

MANCHESTER UNITED star Cristiano Ronaldo was open to a massive £210 million transfer to Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal.

The club’s chairman, Fahad ben Nafel, claims the deal failed only because the party had a transfer ban, and it was not the player who rejects the move.

He also insisted that he have talks with the 37-year-old striker who wanted to leaves Man Utd during the summer.

Ronaldo was offered a dazzling £2 million a week contract for two years.

He also planned to take home £210million and then there is the £25million transfer fee that would go to United.

Ben Nafel said: “Yes, we negotiated with Ronaldo. The problem was not in the money or the principle.”

“Al-Hilal is able to bring in the stars of the world, but it was in the decision of the Sports Arbitration Center that prevented us from registering the players.

“We have not stopped negotiating with the players despite the decision to suspend, but we have postponed entering the final phase of the negotiations until the ban was lifted.”

Al-Hilal has been banned from transfer due to a fiasco with the signing of Mohmed Kanno when he was accidentally signed for two clubs at the same time.

If Ben Nafel’s statements are true, despite so-called Ronaldo want out of Old Trafford for Champions League football, it didn’t stop him from listening to Al-Hilal.

The size of the bid is unbelievable considering CR7’s age and lack of shape lately.

He has only scored once this season – a penalty in the Europa League against Sheriff Tiraspol.

The Portuguese international has also had his minutes limited this season because he is often used off the bench by Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo continues to start for his country despite some doubts whether he should start given his disappointing performances.

If Al-Hilal added Ronaldo to their roster, he would be joining a team with some familiar faces.

Ex-United striker Odion Ighalo, former West Brom star Matheus Pereira and ex-Port forward Moussa Marega are all at the club.
