A year after being devastated by the death of his beloved wife from cancer, actor Damian Lewis’ smile may now suggest a new romance is on the way.

The Eton-trained star was spotted laughing and talking with American rocker Alison Mosshart as they traveled on a London Overground train last week, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

One photo showed the animated couple sitting on public transport and chatting at their leisure.

Alison, 43, wore simple black skinny jeans along with a bright red hoodie to provide the perfect contrast to her platinum blonde locks.

A relaxed Damian wore a mint green button and gray jeans as he leaned back in his chair, immersed in the conversation.

Later that day, the pair changed into evening wear and were seen leaving the Serpentine Gallery’s annual summer party, one of the highlights of London’s social season.

Damian, who has two teenage children from his marriage, looked smart in a tweed blazer and baggy green trousers and still wore his wedding ring.

True to her rocker-chic style, Alison followed suit wearing a denim jacket and checked pants with black heels.

A week earlier, the couple were photographed together at a benefit party in front of the National Gallery in London, but it is unclear whether a relationship has developed.

A fellow passenger who saw Damian with the blonde singer as they toured north London on Thursday said the couple looked “100 per cent romantically engaged, like they were on a hot date.”

“I wasn’t sure if it was him at first, but his voice is so deep and distinctive,” the witness said. “But after all he’s been through, it’s wonderful to think he’s found someone new. They looked very happy together.’

She is also a member of the American supergroup The Dead Weather, formed by Jack White of The White Stripes.

He told GMB hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shepherd that “she’s with us again this year” as he helps raise money for UNICEF charity.

On GMB, Ben said: ‘The first time I met you and your lovely wife Helen outside of work was at Soccer Aid many years ago in Manchester and you were there with the family and children. She was always such a vociferous supporter of you and everything you did.

“Kate and I were very honored to be at her memorial service a few weeks ago. I can imagine you are very touched by the outpouring of love and support she has been shown since she sadly passed away.’

Damian replied: ‘Well, she was a wonderful person and people from all walks of life reached out to say what an impact she had on their lives.

“That day we had a few weeks ago was a very special day, I’m very glad you could have been a part of it and it was celebrated by her tribe, her profession, the acting profession – actors, directors, producers, writers all showed up and she is sorely missed.

‘When she first came to Soccer Aid, I had entered my hotel room at The Lowry in Manchester and it was covered all over with Union Jack flags and English flags that she had bought and decorated the room with . So she’s with us. She’s with us again this year.’

Named an OBE in the 2017 New Year Honors for services to drama, Helen was also an award-winning stage actress, working with the National Theatre, the Almeida and the Donmar Warehouse, and playing Lady Macbeth at Shakespeare’s Globe.

Rufus Norris, Artistic Director of the National Theater, said she was “without doubt one of the great actors of her generation.”

Helen made her last TV appearance in March last year, working with Lewis on Good Morning Britain to promote their work with the charity of The Prince’s Trust.
