Asus revealed the ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro yesterday. The main differences between them are that the Pro has 18 GB of RAM (the vanilla comes in at 16 GB) and comes with 512 GB of storage, plus a secondary 2″ OLED display on the back. The vanilla phone only has an RGB backlit logo. on the backside.
That screen is the first step in the teardown video of WekiHome† One ribbon cable powers the logo lights, another connects the NFC coil. From there it only gets more interesting.
The Asus ROG Phone 6 has RGB lighting for the ROG logo on the back
ROG Phone 6 is designed from the ground up as a gaming phone. The 6000 mAh battery is split into two separate cells, allowing the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 based motherboard to be placed between them.
The motherboard is in the middle, so that it can be optimally cooled by the AeroActive Cooler 6 add-on
This puts it in the optimal position to be cooled by the AeroActive Cooler 6, which really helps keep the chipset at top speed in X mode. Checking out our review for more information on the thermals and cooling performance of the AeroActive add-on.
The teardown starts just after 4 minutes in the video. There are some benchmarks and a demo of the Cooler 6 and the Kunai 3 Gamepad for that.
