In case you had plans to open a burger restaurant in honor of Donald Trumpunfortunately, someone beat you to it.
Yes, Trump Burger really exists and is actually very popular.
The diner opened in Texas in 2020, when the former president was still in office, ahead of Democrat Joe Biden taking over.
Roland Beauny runs the restaurant – he is a second-generation Lebanese-American who, as you can guess, loves Trump.
Located about an hour from Houston, the restaurant is literally a Trump gleam, with everything from “Trump 2024” flags on the walls to a merchandise stand selling slogan T-shirts.
As if that didn’t make it clear that this establishment is highly a monument dedicated to the 45th President of the United States, all staff wear Trump shirts.
Oh, and the actual burger buns are branded with his last name.
Speaking to the Houston Chronicle, owner Beauny said the venue is a “wonderful place” for “Trump-backed stuff,” and that it’s an area where he “feels at home.”
Singing Trump’s praises, he added: ‘As an immigrant from a place where everything is bad and you work for nearly $200 (£164), you see someone like him supporting the country and making the economy better. As an entrepreneur, I appreciate what he did’.
The restaurant entrepreneur told how he was born in Boston and moved to Lebanon at the age of six to study.
He returned to America with his family in 2019 and opened Trump Burger the following year.
The reactions to the restaurant online were of course… interesting.
Not everyone is as on board with the concept as Beauny is, with social media users calling it “terrible.”
“I’ve never treated another Republican president this way,” one person tweeted.
Beauny has admitted that they received “a lot of bad calls” after they first opened their doors, with complainants “wanting to “burn the case down”.
He said, “It was scary at first, but we don’t have those calls anymore. We have a great following, and not all of them are Trump supporters. They come for the food and the service.’
The manager also hopes the former US leader will pay a visit himself, because although he is not affiliated with the Trump Organization, a portion of the restaurant’s proceeds will go towards his fundraising campaign.
