A HAIR expert has revealed the little-known methods to stimulate hair growth that you can do at home.
One of Adele Clarke's tips is an underrated trick to improve circulation and thus stimulate new hair growth.
Clarke is a OSMO ICON Brand Ambassador and Owner of Spectrum Hair Company in St Helens, England.
Speaking to The US Sun, she revealed the secret to longer hair.
HOME REMEDIES
Clarke said there are several ways to promote hair growth without having to go to the hairdresser.
“Do not underestimate the benefits of a firm but relaxing head massage. It stimulates blood circulation and thus stimulates hair growth,” the doctor said.
“Often it's not so much what you rub in, but rather the healing, relaxing touch itself that does it.”
She discovered that a dermaroller used gently on the scalp can have a similar effect, stimulating hair follicles and improving blood flow.
A dermatologist or trichologist can advise you on the best microneedling method for specific needs.
Clarke says that besides head massages, you can also use other ingredients from the kitchen for healthier hair.

“I've heard of the rice water rinse method,” she said.
“Rice is rich in amino acids and vitamins and can strengthen hair and promote hair growth.
“Rosemary oil is also a great natural way to bring more nutrients to the hair follicles, which promotes growth and improves blood circulation to the scalp, making hair fuller and stronger.”
WASHING DAY HABITS
A good scalp environment is necessary to care for the hair and stimulate growth.
Clarke says it's best to avoid products that contain harsh chemicals, like parabens.
“A healthy scalp is crucial for hair growth, as conditions like dandruff or scalp infections can hinder hair growth,” she said.
“Washing your hair too often can strip it of its natural oils, while washing too little can lead to buildup and scalp problems.”
She uses products containing soybean oil and rice protein to strengthen the locks of her clients with fine hair.
Simple things like rough brushing, especially when hair is wet, and using the wrong type of brush can cause breakage.
A volumizing shampoo and conditioner can also help create the illusion of healthier, thicker hair.
“Volumizing products really give your hair volume without static and are a great alternative to heavy styling products and backcombing,” she said.
“Towel dry your hair after rinsing it thoroughly and spray some root boost spray on the roots. Hold your hair upside down and pat dry.
“Then use a large round brush and a professional hair dryer.
“Dry your hair in 2.5 inch sections and gently comb your hair from the roots upwards to create volume.”
HELPING HANDS
Rough brushing of your hair, especially when it is wet, and using the wrong type of brush can cause your hair to break.
Clarke said tight ponytails, braids and buns should be avoided when it comes to styling, as they can stunt hair growth and cause traction alopecia.

She said it can be helpful to talk to specialists to get optimal results from your hair care routine.
“You really shouldn't skip going to the hairdresser, because getting regular trims helps remove split ends, which in turn promotes stronger hair growth,” she said.
“You may also want to make an appointment with your doctor to have your iron levels checked, as this can affect your hair growth.
“I also talk to my own clients about monitoring their stress levels and being aware of hormonal changes, such as their periods, menopause and pregnancy.
“If hair loss or hair growth is a problem, then talking to a doctor or trichologist is definitely the right way to go.”
