Due to this, Jio users in Mumbai recently experienced network outages

Reliance Jio users in Mumbai recently experienced network issues (outages) for two days. The internet and TV cable connection was broken. The problem affected some 2,500 telco customers. The reason behind the outage was a disgruntled employee who had cut the telco’s fiber optic cable (OFC) at multiple locations.

According to a report by TNN, the disgruntled employee, who was transferred from the Goregaon site to Borivli, had removed the OFC out of spite. An FIR has been registered against the employee, the report said. Jio has not officially said anything about this yet. The issue was noticed on November 27, 2022 at 4:30 PM. Rajendra Mohite, a senior technician at a supplier of Trust Jio, had received a warning from Jio servers that a site was down on SV Road, Goregaon. When Mohite’s team arrived at the site, they found the OFC had been cut off.

The same problem occurred at Jawahar Nagar, Goregaon, on November 28, 2022. Lucky Gaikwad, a sub-seller learned about this through Mohite’s employer. Gaikwad suspected one of his employees who had recently been transferred. When he confronted the said employee, Gaikwad’s suspicion turned into confirmation, and now an FIR has been registered against the employee in question.
