A new family means fresh blood and energy for BBC soap EastEnders, but we’d suggest you don’t get too attached to any of the members as he will die in sad scenes next week.
The revelation that Avery Baker (Omar Lye-Fook, MBE) has arrived in Walford to make amends with brother Mitch (Roger Griffiths) over the fact that he is terminally ill shocked fans.
Mitch continued to waver and soon came to the conclusion that blood is thicker than water and that he had to be there for his brother.
But the time is shorter than anyone expected, as Avery will soon pass away, leaving Mitch devastated; not to mention Avery’s sons Felix and Finlay (Matthew Morrison and Ashley Byam).
Avery desperately wants to go to an old restaurant where he and Mitch used to eat when they were younger, but knowing that Avery is too weak and won’t have long to live, Mitch has a different idea.
Mitch later leads Avery to the laundromat where he is surprised with a Caribbean themed party.
With the party in full swing and Tara at the helm, the brothers reminisce and Avery thanks Mitch for what he’s done. While Mitch is talking to him, Avery dies, in deeply sad scenes.
As those left behind come to terms with the loss, Uncle and Cousins come together and their bond grows stronger in the face of adversity.
But Avery has one more bomb to deliver in the wake of his sad departure…
