Last year, the two teamed up to put on a free virtual concert for pokemon go in November, where Sheeran sang six songs from his discography.

To promote his album, the songs were Perfect, Bad Habits, Overpass Graffiti, Thinking out Loud, First Times and Shivers.

While playing pokemon games, Sheeran always chooses a water starter.

So as part of the event, water starters became more common and special sunglasses featuring Squirtle were available in the game.

For now, there is no mention of Sheeran returning to Pokémon Go or any other Pokémon game.

However, he has written a new song based on the franchise and it will be out on September 29.

Not much has been announced about the new track yet, except it’s called ‘Celestial’.

Fans have theorized which Pokémon the song will be based on the title.

There are some legendary pokemon with links to the word, which refers to space or heaven.

Most clearly, Palkia is the Legendary Pokémon that controls space.

Solrock and Lunatone also have ties to the Sun and Moon and are both generally available in Pokémon Go this month.

Other legends from space include the Cosmog and its evolutions: Cosmoem, Solgaleo, and Lunala.

Cosmog was recently released at an event in Pokémon Go, although its evolutions have yet to be recorded.

The new song could be part of the launch for this Pokémon.

The mythical Pokémon, Celebi, also controls space and time, while regular Pokémon like Clefairy supposedly come from the moon.

There was also a Clefairy themed event in Pokémon Go recently, which could indicate the fairy Pokémon featured in the song.

We’ll find out more when the song comes out next week.
