Tesla CEO Elon Musk said it was time for Donald Trump to “hang up his hat and sail into the sunset,” days after the former US president mocked the billionaire at a political rally and called him a “bull”. ***t artist’.
Musk wrote on Twitter: “I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat and sail into the sunset.”
“Dems should also call off the attack — don’t make sure Trump’s only way to survive is to get the presidency back,” he added without explanation.
At the same meeting, Trump, who had been famously banned from Twitter, urged the crowd to join his own social media network Truth Social.
The pair had previously been close, with Trump previously calling Musk “one of our great geniuses,” and Musk welcomed his support as he attempted to reopen his Tesla plant in California.
Some believed Musk’s potential purchase of Twitter could lead to Trump being reinstated on the platform, but it appears the relationship has deteriorated.

Musk’s comments were in response to comments Trump made Saturday at a rally in Anchorage, Alaska, where he spoke in support of US House of Representatives candidate Sarah Palin and US Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka.
The former president said at the meeting that Musk was not going to buy Twitter Inc and that the CEO of Tesla Inc had made a mess.
‘(Musk) recently said, ‘I’ve never voted for a Republican. I said I didn’t know; he told me he voted for me. He’s another bull***t artist, but he won’t buy it (Twitter),’ Trump said.
On Trump’s re-election, the South African billionaire said there was “too much drama” and asked if “we really want a bull in the china shop every day!?”
He added that he thought the oldest starting age for a president should be 69 and tweeted that Trump would be too old at age 82 by the end of the next presidential term.
Musk has previously said his first Republican vote was for Mayra Flores, the winner of a South Texas special election in June.
Last month, Musk said at the Qatar Economic Forum that he had not yet decided who he would support in the next presidential election.
Although he had revealed on Twitter the week before that he was “tendring” to vote for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis if he ran for president in 2024.
On Monday, Musk added that if DeSantis were to face Biden in 2024, “DeSantis will easily win” and that “Trump would be 82 at the end of term, which is too old to be CEO of anything, let alone the United States of America.”
