It is clear that emergency services have rushed to the plane, which landed on the runway next to Terminal 2. Passengers at Manchester Airport report that all flights have been grounded at the massive airport. Firefighters have been seen putting out the engine fire on the right side of the plane.

“I’ve done a round and now there’s nothing that takes off or lands and stays in positions.”
“Hannah Evenden” @hammerhan28 replied: “Sat on the floor waiting for a take and saw a couple of fire trucks and other emergency vehicles go by.
“They said on our flight that there was an incident with an oncoming flight.”
Fellow Twitter user “Dutch Holland” also wrote: “Motorbrand on stand.
“It’s out, but I imagine there’s no runway coverage from the fire department because they’re all with the plane.”

Manchester Airport has warned that security queues can sometimes be longer than usual during the busy summer holiday period following the recovery from the Covid pandemic and as passenger numbers increase.
In a message on its website, the airport said: “Our colleagues are working tirelessly to process passengers as quickly as possible and we apologize to everyone affected by the recent disruption.
“In order to make your journey as smooth as possible, passengers are requested to arrive no more than three hours before their flight.
Those arriving earlier may be asked to wait away from the check-in area until the recommended time to go through security.
“This is to reduce waiting times in both security and the departure lounge. We appreciate your understanding.
The airport added: “It is also important that passengers understand the latest rules on hand luggage, to avoid having their hand luggage refused at security.
“Refused bags can cause significant delays for everyone involved.”
