Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick has increased security around her home, which comes after previously receiving homophobic death threats.
The actress, who plays Vanessa Woodfield in the ITV soap, is married to Kate Brooks, a producer on the show.
Married since 2019the couple have a son named Teddy and recently announced that they would soon welcome a girl into the world.
Michelle has talk about the horrible trolls she and Kate have hosted in the past just because they are a gay couple, telling OKAY! Magazine At the time, “There have been times when the police had to be called because there were death threats.
“And if they mention your son’s name and you say, ‘Really? I’m just on a soap opera, you know, we’re not hurting anyone.” The root of all this is always because I’m gay, I’m a gay woman.”
“And it’s like, ‘Lesbians shouldn’t be on this earth, just burn in hell and die.'”
On her Instagram stories, Michelle recently revealed that she had increased protections around her home and thanked the company for their services.
She wrote: ‘I just wanted to say what a fantastic service we’ve had from the very first phone call to the final result. Anyone in the Leeds/Wakefield area who needs security solutions look no further than @msc.security.solutions.
“This was a fully paid job, not a paid advertisement. I just wanted to post because they were fantastic.”
Michelle returned to her role as Vanessa in Emmerdale late last year.
Life for Vanessa, as expected, has been anything but smooth.
She recently began dating newcomer Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough), only to discover that she was trying to get over her drug addiction, and used to supply Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) with cocaine outside the village.
