Anyone tasked with planning the wedding of the decade by Emmerdale’s super scary Kim Tate (Claire King) would have a difficult task to fulfill the assignment.
Lydia (Karen Blick) agreed to take on the unenviable challenge after Kim fired Take A Vow, the Dales’ chief wedding planners, after Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) didn’t seem like all the details. Leyla’s behavior has been increasingly disrupted by her cocaine use and her attempts to hide it, and while Kim doesn’t know that Leyla is a drug addict, if she sees one, she certainly knows a less than efficient wedding planner.
So she gave the job to Lydia, for reasons she knew best. We know Lydia is excellent at cleaning, but her previous experience planning weddings seems to mean she’s ready to deliver copious amounts of potato salad to any buffet table that may or may not need it.
Perhaps for Kim, Lydia’s most important qualities as a wedding planner were that she is (a) reliable and (b) not Leyla.
But as we might have predicted, the pressure to factor Kim’s whims into the wedding preparations gets a bit much for poor Lydia and she resigns from her role.
Will Lydia’s loss turn out to be Leyla’s gain if the wedding is once again entrusted to her?
