He met his ex-wife Charley on the set of Emmerdale and the couple started dating in 2007.

But in November 2023, she released a statement confirming that they had gone their separate ways after five years of marriage.

However, the former soap sweethearts still have three children in common: Buster, 13, Bowie, eight, and Ace, four.

While it appears on Loose women on Monday, Matthew the presenter said Charlene White what it has been like for them to raise children together after the divorce.

“I think we're still finding our way,” he admitted. “I mean, the good thing is me and Charley are best friends and that's great.”

He continued, “It's still new to us at this point, but we're still finding our way and finding a way to do it right. And I think we are.”

Panelist Kellé Bryan shared her support for him, replying, “Look, you're co-parenting and that's what it's all about.”

Matthew left Emmerdale last year in shock.

He played one of the longest running characters in the Dales before deciding it was time to move on.

An insider told The Sun Matthew quit the soap because he was “bored” with his character's storylines.

A TV source said at the time: “Matthew has had a great time on the soap but feels ready for a change.

“He hasn't gotten any gritty storylines lately, so he wants to see what else is out there.

“He is a fan favorite so he will have a lot of support in whatever he decides to do.

“He is very excited about the possibilities that are available.

“He's only just announced he's leaving, so screenwriters are working on fleshing out his departure on screen. It's possible David could be killed off.”
