Enea, a leading provider of innovative telecommunications and cybersecurity software, has announced the ‘5G Service Engine’ for its CSPs (Communication Service Providers). Here’s what you need to know about it.
Enea’s 5G Service Engine was created with the vision to bring convenience to CSPs. While 5G is the next leap, 4G will remain relevant for years to come. It will be years before 5G subscriptions outnumber 4G subscriptions. So Telcos can’t ignore 4G customers while switching to 5G and can’t ignore 5G by only focusing on 4G.
To help the telcos offer both in a very seamless and easy way, Enea has launched the 5G Service Engine (5G-SE). The company said in a release that it is a 4G and 5G dual-mode convergent platform to enable CSPs to launch 5G services and seamlessly port the existing 4G services.
The 5G-SE allows telcos or CSPs to simultaneously deploy Gi-LAN and N6 services with both 5G Function (UPF) and 4G packet gateway in a multi-vendor cloud-native architecture. This will help the telcos reduce the cost and complexity associated with managing duplicate operations and the 4G/5G transition.
Enea 5G-SE will help shorten time-to-market for companies bringing new products
Enea’s 5G-SE has a very small physical footprint and is easy to deploy. This will lead to a reduction in the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) for the telcos and their time to bring new services and products to the market.
Dave Bolan, Research Director at Dell’Oro Groupsaid Enea’s 5G-SE would help simplify operations for the CSPs and enable the telcos to offer 5G by integrating existing services from the 4G world.
Ericsson had said in its latest mobility report that 4G will be large subscriptions in the coming years. Therefore, the telcos want solutions that allow them to easily offer both 5G and 4G services to consumers.
