Eugene and Dan Levy are the hosts

ABC will indeed outsource the hosting of this year's Emmys, enlisting father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy to present the September 15 broadcast.

The Levys, who enjoyed a particularly fruitful Emmys run in 2020 when Schitts Creek won every major comedy category in an unprecedented speedare an unconventional choice, as neither currently appears at a Disney venue. But their opening slot at the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards proved they’re up to the task — and after a lengthy negotiation, they’re now set to take the stage at the Peacock Theater at LA LIVE.

The question of who will host the Emmys is an increasingly muddy one. For decades, the duties have typically gone to whichever funnyman or woman popped up on whichever network had the rights to air the Emmys. But because the four networks that make up the “wheel” of the rotating broadcast have a smaller comedy slate, news of who will host the Emmys has come later and later in the calendar.

Jimmy Kimmel was the obvious first choice. The ABC star, whose Jimmy Kimmel live! is again nominated for outstanding talk show, having hosted the last three times his network has had the show. But this year he turned it down, as he did at the 2025 ABC Oscars ceremony. “Jimmy is always our first question,” Dana Walden, co-chair of Disney Entertainment, told The Hollywood Reporter in july. “He's always our first choice when it comes to partners. He represents our company so well and he's done such a remarkable job… but hosting a daily show is a lot of work.”

Eugene, herself a nominee for the Apple TV+ series The reluctant travelerand Dan now steps into a broadcast that is just a month away. Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay of Jesse Collins Entertainment will once again executive produce the show, a show that Shogun, The Bear And Real Detective: Nightland if the leaders in the three key areas.

Despite the largely altered playing field, viewers may experience a sense of déjà vu when watching the show. The 2023 Emmys were just nine months ago, significantly delayed by both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Those craving a second helping can tune in on Sunday, September 15 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ABC.
