The Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has said it is difficult to control the *libido of internally displaced persons, after 80 babies were delivered to the state’s IDP camps in seven months.
SEMA’s executive secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Shior, made this known to journalists during the agency’s monthly distribution of relief supplies to the displaced on Friday, July 15.
He said the births had been registered by the agency and most of the displaced were staying with their partners, which was the reason for the high number of births recorded in the camps.
“The agency is very strict on illegal* matters in the camps. It is very difficult to control the tide of births in the camps, the displaced are people.
It is the nature of man, even if they have no food to eat, they have the desire *; that cannot be taken from the displaced. Most of them have their families in the camps.
The aspect we are trying to control is unmarried people sleeping together; other illegal * acts are also prohibited in the camps” said Shior
