Extinction Rebellion protesters target London newspaper offices

Extinction Rebellion protesters attacked the offices of several newspapers on a day of action by the climate activists.

Protesters threw green paint over the windows and exterior walls of The Telegraph offices in London as protesters unfurled banners reading “Tell the Truth”.

The climate protesters also reportedly targeted the offices of the Daily Mail and the Times.

More than a dozen police officers arrived at the scene of the protest at The Telegraph offices, although no arrests were made immediately.

Sarah Montgomery, 72, who was one of the Extinction Rebellion protesters holding a banner, said other media outlets would also be targeted on Wednesday.

The move comes ahead of a large-scale protest planned by dozens of climate campaign organizations in a month’s time.

“We are here because we believe that the national press, including this paper that stands behind us, is not telling the truth about the extent to which we are in a climate crisis,” Ms Montomgery said. “And if that were to happen, the government would be forced to do some very different things from what it is doing at the moment, which is clearly not enough.”
