The family of a teenager who died in a stabbing in Wolverhampton has paid tribute to him as a ‘kind-hearted, loving, caring’ person.

Ronan Kanda’s loved ones said their “hearts are broken” after his death on Wednesday.

West Midlands Police said an inquest revealed he had been stabbed twice at the scene on Mount Road, Lanesfield, shortly before 9pm on Wednesday.

He died on the spot.

Five people, aged between 15 and 20, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

In a statement released by the police, his family said: “Ronan was a kind-hearted, loving, caring 16-year-old. Our son and a brother who would do anything for anyone.

“He was a funny character who made everyone around him laugh.

“He has been cruelly taken from us and our hearts are broken.

“We want everyone to pray for their souls now. We will always love you, our son and my brother and you will be in our lives now.”

Police said a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man detained earlier this week remain in police custody, while another 16-year-old boy was arrested overnight and is in custody.

A 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man who were held earlier this week have been released on bail.

Detective Inspector Ade George, who is leading the investigation, appealed for information.

He said: “We are making good progress with our investigations, but we still need someone with information to contact us if they see or hear anything on Wednesday night.

“I’m very curious about people who were driving in the area at the time.

“We know there were cars on the road in the moments before the attack, and dashcam footage may provide us with important evidence.

“It’s very important that you talk to us if you have any information about what happened, who was responsible or why Ronan was attacked.”
