Family trips over cache of firearms while paddling in pond

Ryan explains: “We were on a river view walk that we regularly take our kids to, and my sons were playing with a 15 year old boy, James, when he slipped and that looked like a magazine from a gun.

“Then he started looking in the water and one after the other started taking out everything you can see in the pictures.”

Ryan was at the local spot with his three children ages eleven, five and one.

He adds: “I then contacted the police, who came to collect the guns and clear the river for more.”

Callum Jones, spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Service, said: “Police were called to Winsford Road, SE6 on Saturday, August 6 at 4:49 pm due to reports of firearms found in a river. Officers were present.

“A firearm and ammunition were recovered and removed from the crime scene.”
