Fijian police police officer Epineri Tanidau’s mother was killed in Christchurch during a random attack last month.

Fijian police pay homage to one of them after their mother, Lysa Maria Waka, was killed in a random attack in Christchurch, just a few meters from her home.

Waka was attacked by a stranger wielding a knife around 4:20 pm on June 25, while walking on the sidewalk of Cheyenne Street in Sockburn, Christchurch.

Waka’s son is police police officer Epinelli Tunidau. He is a member of the Fijian police station based at the Sigatoka police station.

A delegation of Fijian and New Zealand police paid tribute to Tunidau’s family.

In a Facebook post, Fijian police said delegations from Fijian and New Zealand police presented their legregs to the Tunidau family. This is up to the burial where friends and family become respectful.

The Fijian police delegation was headed by Sakeo Ganivatu, the police’s assistant chief executive officer. The New Zealand Police Department was represented by Grin Roland, the director of the Senior Liaison Officer (Pacific).

Fijian police brigadier general Sitiveni Qiliho has instructed Tunidau to give him all the support he needs “to help him overcome this difficult time,” Fijian police said.
