Flooded casinos in Las Vegas go viral as city is hit by RARE heavy rain and thunderstorms OLASMEDIA TV NEWSThis is what we have for you today:
Las Vegas witnessed heavy rain and extreme thunderstorms as multiple casinos and hotels along with airports and parking lots were flooded. Videos and photos shared on social media showed water pouring through building ceilings as people struggled with the adverse weather.
The city’s official Twitter page shared a warning, writing: “A flash flood and severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the Las Vegas Valley ⚠️ @NWSVegas advises to watch out for: – torrential downpours 🌧 – lightning ⚡️ – strong gusts of wind 💨 #VegasWeather.” No injuries have been reported yet, as confirmed by Las Vegas Fire Information Officer, Tim Szymanski, but footage showed downtown streets resembling rivers and the interior of Circa Sportsbook exploding with water.

Other videos showed heavy downpours at Planet Hollywood Casino as stunned employees recorded the havoc on their phones. The floodwaters didn’t spare Caesar’s Palace either, as clips on the internet revealed how the ceilings failed to control it. Alexander Wolf, a resident of Las Vegas, told The New York After“Lightning was almost constant and power went out several times. Power surges set off the fire alarms of several buildings, forcing firefighters into the storm to respond.”

Simon Jowitt, an economic geologist and professor at the University of Las Vegas, said flash flooding is not common in the city, but July to September is considered monsoon season. He added: “We have good drainage systems, but sometimes the water overloads them. It can also be dangerous for the homeless who sometimes live in the drainage systems for shelter. The other thing is that we don’t get rain very often, so it’s hard to check if roofs and the like are really waterproof; probably what happened in the casinos tonight. These rains are not very common, but we now have a few days in a row.”

Not only roads and streets, flooding and rain also affect airports and flights. Flyer Shondra Kayd told The Post: “My flight has been delayed by an hour so far and maybe more. Many planes had to land at different airports.”
Twitter was filled with reactions to the bleak Las Vegas weather, with one user saying, “It’s happening here and I’m REALLY AFRAID!!!.” The second user shared: “Lightning in the North and rain in the Central Valley. Come on #monsoon2022 #vegasweather #Vegas @KTNV.” “I tell so many people that flat roofs are stupid in the desert because nobody maintains their roofs. The drains get clogged. The roofs are drying out and leaking. It’s all great until it rains and then bam,” the third tweeted.

Expect lawsuits. Circa will sue the architect and builder and they will in turn sue any subcontractor who set foot on the project to pay for their mistake. It doesn’t matter out who is to blame. That’s our system.” “It is the duty of every Nevada resident to get their 5-gallon buckets and a bucket brigade all the way to Lake Mead,” a tweet added.
