Fast food enthusiasts fly thousands of miles to eat ‘Britain’s largest serving of fish and chips’, which weighs more than a stone and contains a whopping 4,500 calories.

The Chip Inn, in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire, is renowned for their giant food parcels and has now claimed to offer the largest fish and chip dinner in the country.

The chippy created the 20-inch Codfather which consists of four battered cod, three portions of fries, eight sausages, four fish cakes and ten different sauces.

The gluttonous meal, which would cost you £40, weighs about a kilo and four pounds, the same as a 43-inch TV, and the box needs to be wrapped in tape so it doesn’t burst open.

The daily recommended calorie intake for women is 2,000 calories per day and for men it is 2,500, with the monstrous meal alone comprising a whopping 4,500 calories.

Megann Altinoz, 42, who owns the shop with husband Erdal, 45, said: ‘It’s the largest British fish and chip box in the UK.

‘I’ve never seen one this big. People compete for the biggest kebab, but not fish and chips. The box is really very big.

“It’s hard to describe how heavy the boxes are, but the 20-inch boxes are hard to lift when they’re done. I need to find someone to help me lift it.

“It’s like a workout. They are so packed that we have to wrap them in tape and close them.

“A lot of people see them online and say they can do it, and then usually their friends say they want to try it too.

“No one has been able to finish the box yet.”

The chip shop initially became famous in 2019 for selling ‘the largest kebab in the world’ that contained 5,350 calories.

According to the takeaway, customers even come from Florida, USA, which is more than 4,000 miles away, to get their hands on the meal.

Ms Altinoz added: ‘We have had people come from the US. They were traveling to London and came to our store because they heard about it online.

‘We went viral for our kebab box, the largest in the world. The Codfather box is actually two inches taller than that one.

‘It’s amazing that people from all over the world know us for our boxes. We definitely have American style portions.

“When we notice a different accent in the store, we ask if they have traveled far, and yet we get people from far away.

“We’ve had people come from Scotland and Cornwall to try them.”

Mrs. Altinoz adds: ‘The store has been a family business for about 24 years. In 2010 we took over and in 2017 we started making the different food boxes.

‘The idea came when a customer came in and ordered a kebab and she asked if we could put it in a pizza box.

“We took a video of it and shared it on Facebook and it went from there. Now our weekends are crazy and we get people queuing outside.”

The huge meals range from fish feasts to burger boxes, as well as a meat special with doner kebab, chicken meat and two large portions of chips.

However, Ms. Altinoz claims that the most popular is the famous burger box, which consists of a ten-inch pizza topped with four burgers.

The £30 meal also comes with doner and chicken meat, onion rings and chicken nuggets.

The videos of the meals posted by the couple have been viewed millions of times, with one receiving more than 25,000 comments.

“We have a lot of people commenting on the videos on Facebook,” Ms Altinoz added.

“We even had someone tag Gordon Ramsay in one of the videos to see if he’d like to make a TikTok video about them.

“We got Will Mellor to share them too. It’s all gone crazy.”
