A police officer and three other civilians patrolling the Korokorosei waterways in Bayelsa State’s southern Ijaw Local Government Area died in a boating accident on Monday, July 25.
Bayelsa State Police Command spokesman ASP Asinim Butswat confirmed the incident to journalists and said the police officer’s body has been discovered while the bodies of the three civilians have yet to be discovered.
“A boat carrying police officers under surveillance capsized near the waterways of Korokorose, in the southern Ijaw Local Government Area.”
“A body of a police officer was found, while three are missing. The command has yet to determine the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident. Divers have been deployed in the area for possible rescue of the missing persons.”
