Angry Parents Complained They Didn’t Get Refunds For Their Kinder Eggs

Of the few contacted, some have criticized the pastry giant for giving them vouchers worth less than the eggs they paid for.

One furious grandma even claims she received a measly £1 in exchange for three giant Kinder Surprise eggs, two packs of Kinder Friends candies and a bag of Kinder Mini eggs.

She reached out to Ferrero on Twitter, shared a photo of her paltry voucher and asked, “Seriously?!”

But the chocolate giant didn’t answer.

Ferrero first issued an urgent recall for some of its products, including the famous Kinder Surprise! eggs – early April.

Customers were warned not to eat anything they bought because of possible traces of Salmonella.

Within weeks, the World Health Organization had confirmed that more than 150 cases of the bug had been linked to Kinder treats.

Most of these were young children who suffered from vomiting, diarrhea and high fever.

More than 20 of those who were knocked down ended up in hospital.

Chocolate fans who bought the recalled products had to take pictures of them and email customer service.

They were then promised a refund in the form of vouchers within 28 days.

But the company has been inundated with complaints from people who haven’t received a cent.

One raged on Twitter: “Why am I still waiting for a refund or resolution for several products I had to throw away after the April recall despite my kids getting sick/vomiting after eating Kinder. Doesn’t this seem to interest your company much?”

Another said: “I applied for a refund for three recalled Kinder eggs two months ago, but have still not received them. And you stop responding to my emails. This is disgraceful customer service.”

One angry mother even tweeted: “After the whole issue of children’s eggs with the salmonella, they now want doctor’s proof that my child was sick! What about returning my money I spent on children’s eggs? What a shame!”

Ferrero has been contacted for comment.
