Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal was a better summer signing than Manchester City bring in Erling Haalandaccording to Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Jesus, who came to the Emirates from City this summer on a £45m deal, has helped Mikel Arteta’s side climb to the top of the table after seven games.
The 25-year-old Brazilian international scored four goals and provided three assists during that time.
Meanwhile, Haaland joined us Pep GuardiolaFrom Borussia Dortmund for £51 million this summer – and despite City losing the Community Shield to Liverpool – the 22-year-old has since helped them to an unbeaten start to the season.
City are currently second in the standings – just one point behind Arsenal – scoring six times more than they did and conceding one less.
Haaland has scored 11 Premier League goals from his first seven games, as well as one assist, while also scoring three goals in two Champions League games, giving the Norwegian striker a total of 14 in his first 10 appearances.
However, Agbonlahor thinks Jesus was the better summer signature, and that’s saying… TalkSPORT: ‘The best asset for me is Gabriel Jesus.
“Haaland has been excellent, but City always did well without Haaland, scored ridiculous goals without Haaland.
Gabriel Jesus has turned Arsenal into something else. They now have a striker who doesn’t slack when he puts pressure on defenders.”
Jesus was omitted from Brazil’s latest roster and has said he will do everything he can to earn a World Cup recall.
Haaland was recently praised by Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, who predicts the striker will become an ‘absolute superstar’.
“Watching him play is unbelievable,” said Rooney. “Of course he will score goals, as he has, but I just think he makes the difference for City.
“I think he’s unique, he’s recognizable, he’s present – on and off the pitch, I think he’s going to be an absolute superstar.”
