As Mikel Arteta is keen to enhance his attack options for the new season, the Gunners have made Brazil one of the top targets in the summer transfer window.

With only one year left to sign with Citi, Jesus hopes to leave the Premier League champions for more play time ahead of Brazil’s World Cup campaign later this year.

The arrival of Erling Haaland in the city would also have been a factor behind Jesus’ decision to leave Pep Guardiola’s side.

Arsenal agreed to a £ 45m deal with Citi last week, and Fabrizio Romano reports that Jesus is in London to complete medical care with the Gunners.

Jesus will be Arsenal’s fourth signature so far this summer, following the arrivals of Fabio Vieira, Markinhos and Matt Turner.

Arsenal are also keen to sign a deal with Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez and have submitted a £ 34.5m improved offer to Argentina, which is also on Manchester United’s shortlist.

The Gunners are also planning further negotiations with Rafinha’s agents after Leeds United refused to open the Brazilian Winger earlier this month.
