Semi-multiformat
Interesting to see Sony's Attitude Towards Lego Horizon Adventures on Nintendo Switchwhere they don't want to publish it and instead want someone else to do it. It seems petty (and a complete waste of time and money), but also very much the kind of thing you'd expect from Sony.

Unlike Xbox games that are on PlayStation5 I don't think there's much of an argument for putting PlayStation 5 games on Xbox Series X/S. Not only does Sony not want to do anything to legitimize Xbox, the console is already doing poorly enough that there's not much to lose by simply ignoring it.

The Switch 2, however, is potentially a very different situation. Assuming it’s not a Wii U-like disaster, but another very successful console, then I see no reason not to put every PlayStation game on it. The Switch 2 is never going to have graphics as good as the PlayStation 5, so Sony can still say they’re the best place to play their games, but there’s a lot of money to be made on a Nintendo console.

I don't know if Sony is too proud to go that route – maybe Lego Horizon Adventures was just Lego's idea – but it makes sense to me.

Course correction
That new trailer for Dragon Age: The Veilguard was a hundred times better than the reveal. I don't see how anyone could think that was a good idea. I mean, kudos to EA for turning things around and realizing the error of their ways, but how could something like this happen in the first place? Who would have thought Dragon Age fans would want the game to be like Overwatch?

I realize they're probably trying to attract new players, but I can't imagine anyone being convinced by a trailer when the game doesn't look like anything like it. We see this kind of mistake so often from publishers, where it's the kind of thing that any fan can see from a mile away, but somehow the game's creators just stumble across it. The only difference is that this time at least they were quick to realize they'd made a mistake.

Growth market
It's nice to hear that there are so many horror games coming out in October, but I don't see the point of a remake of Until Dawn. The word has been used so badly lately, maybe they just mean remaster, but even then… is anyone such a fan of Until Dawn that they can't just play it on PlayStation 4 and be happy?

I remember it being one of the best looking games on the PlayStation 4, so I bet it still holds up today. It just seems like another unnecessary remake trying to copy the success of Resident Evil. But honestly, Until Dawn isn't even on the same planet in terms of popularity.

Sony will waste all that time and money on a project like that when they could have easily made a smaller indie game or two. It’s funny how companies constantly complain about a lack of growth and yet obsess over pointless nostalgia – which only works with existing fans.

Opposites attract
What I'm concerned about with the Switch 2 is that it's coming out around the same time as GTA 6.

That game is going to be a black hole for everything that has to do with games. And if the rumors that GTA 5 will be on the next Nintendo console are true, that is really sad.

I, like many others, played GTA Online to death on PlayStation 3 and have no intention of going back due to the invisible/invincible/exploders. Cheaters saturated the servers unless Nintendo can do something to stop them.

Main class: GTA 6 may have some tricky timing, but we doubt anyone's opinion of the Switch 2 will hinge on whether or not GTA 5 is on it.

Charm offensive
While it wasn't the usual E3 presentation I read on the informative PlayStation Blog site, nor was it as boring as it might seem, it does report that the charming-looking The Plucky Squire will be coming to PS Plus Extra and Premium on day one of release on September 17.

With Squire on the 17th, Astro Bot on the 6th, The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom on the 26th and the recently released Thank Goodness You're Here! I find my gaming self pantsless and bewitched into oblivion.

Another indie game that hasn’t been announced for Sony and Microsoft’s previous generation consoles, even though it’s out on Switch. So it should run without a hitch.

Comply with the rules
I see there is some disagreement about Which Xbox game is coming next to PlayStation 5?but everyone seems to think that something 'big' is definitely coming. Forza Horizon has way better reviews than any other Xbox game, including Halo, so it certainly makes sense, especially since there's nothing like it on the PlayStation 5.

I really think Microsoft needs to explain their thinking with multiformat games. I don't care about their infighting, I just want to know what the rules are. Is it X amount of years or months before a game comes to PlayStation 5? Is it just completely arbitrary? Are some franchises completely off limits?

It seems like Microsoft probably doesn't know the answer at this point, but they should decide and stick to it. If they can explain their thinking, and it doesn't seem like they're just making it up or just reacting to what other people are doing, I think they'll be in a much better position.

Even if they decide not to do multiformat anymore, that's fine, as long as it's a clear and permanent decision. I think this haphazard approach is doing them more harm than they realize, because it not only angers existing Xbox owners, but also discourages potential new Xbox owners from believing there is a plan.

Still kicking
There's one more week to support the spiritual successor to Chibi-Robo!, called KoRobo Kickstarter. They are still $5,000 away from their goal. They are also using Campfire to simultaneously run a separate crowdfunding campaign for the game for backers in Japan.

PS: Cocoon is currently on sale on the Xbox Store for £12.59. I was going to buy it physically for the PlayStation 5 (it’s also available physically for the Switch) next month, but because it’s on sale on the Xbox Store I bought it there because I had a £10 voucher, so it only cost me £2.59.

I wanted to buy Planet Of Lana for the PlayStation 5 a while ago, because the game came out there. The month before the game came out on the PlayStation 5, the game was on sale on the Xbox. So I bought the game on the Xbox as well.

Main class: Cocoon is great, but we liked Planet Of Lana less.

In space no one can hear you sneaking
I'm definitely looking forward to Alien: Romulus and I'm curious to see how it compares to Alien Isolation. Excellent game and I think it was when GameCentral interviewed Sigourney Weaver It was one of the most memorable interviews I've read.

It was the first Alien film to be so creepy and make an industrial spaceship so terrifying to pilot that, along with Event Horizon perhaps, it made the horror of the depths of space so palpable and visceral.

The sequels to Alien 3 are also top notch and decently made, especially Aliens. Although I saw it first, and it was creepy as any good horror movie, there are so many amazingly designed weapons that hordes of xenomorphs just melt to pieces. But I loved the special effects and visual effects in Aliens and Alien 3.

But when I saw the original Alien movie a few years after Aliens , it was very much a slower paced story of a monster hunting down and stalking people, which was a great way to portray such a dangerous predator.

So that's how I like my more stealth-oriented games to be, rather than shooting them all with a fully loaded space marine's assault rifle. Alien Isolation may have had its flaws here and there, but you can't deny that it did its job and the character you play as is good enough to emotionally care about.

One last good thing that the new Alien: Romulus movie has to deliver is the classic idea that all is well with the world, but that, just like in Alien and Aliens, there is still a sneaky xenomorph on the loose. Well, you know what happened when you see the movies, but I am certainly curious to see if the new movie is as good as the best movies in this great franchise.

Count me in as hyped for Two Point Museum. What I’ve read so far sounds great, and the reveal trailer showed that the series’ trademark humor will be present and on point alongside the excellent gameplay. I really enjoyed Two Point Campus, and Museum has the potential to be even better.

I would absolutely love a Sega Vs. Capcom game. Just like Nintendo makes Sega characters better than Sega, I bet Capcom would too. It would be even better if it was pixel graphics, although I know that will never happen.
