Gardaí arrest man and woman as part of investigation into explosion in Creeslough that killed ten people

Gardaí arrested two people this morning as part of the investigation into the explosion in Creeslough, Co Donegal, which claimed the lives of ten people in October 2022.

The two people, a man and a woman in their 40s, were arrested for alleged offenses contrary to the Non-Fatal Offenses Against the Person Act 1997.

Both are currently being held under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 at separate Garda stations in County Donegal.

The explosion took place in an apartment and retail building containing a petrol station in the village of Creeslough.

The ten people who died in the tragedy on October 7, 2022 were: Robert Garwe and his five-year-old daughter, Shauna Flanagan-Garwe; fashion student Jessica Gallagher; Celtic fan Martin McGill; James O'Flaherty, born in Sydney; Catherine O'Donnell and her 13-year-old son James Monaghan; store employee Martina Martin; 14-year-old Leona Harper; and carpenter Hugh Kelly.

The investigation into the fatal explosion at a building complex in Creeslough, Co Donegal, continues, coordinated from Milford Garda Station, where an incident room has been established under the direction of a senior Garda investigating officer.

The investigation continues to be led by local Gardaí, in the Donegal Division, supported by the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) and other agencies including the Health & Safety Authority (HSA) and the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities (CRU).

There is currently no Garda spokesperson available.
