The culture minister appeared on GB News and spoke with host Dan Wootton about the likelihood that the prime minister will one day “bring back Churchill style to number 10”. The clip comes after it was reported that Ms Dorries, who has been a staunch supporter of Johnson, is “ready to join the race to become prime minister to keep Boris’s flame alive”.
Speaking to Mr Wootton, Ms Dorries said many in the party regretted forcing Mr Johnson to leave and then believe in his return.
She said, “I believe that. Not only can I assure you; my phone is full of messages from people saying he’s coming back.”
She later added: “I think people regret the buyer the moment I know MPs and certainly the party donors and I know people think ‘what have we done?'”
Many members of the party and the public are divided over the massive leadership battle, which has seen 11 MPs so far.
It has been announced that the new prime minister will be proclaimed on September 5.
According to Dorries, Johnson’s return will be fueled by a lack of satisfaction among other people taking the lead, such as Sajid Javid, Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss.
She said: “If you have someone who… [Boris’] uniqueness, his appeal, his level of genius, you get a manly, old and pale individual.”
She continued to add that despite being largely the cause of his downfall, Mr Johnson’s character, along with his multiple flaws, is what “appeals” to the public.
Ms Dorries said: “You get someone who is going to bring challenges.

Last week, Nadine Dorries made another mistake in a tweet when she congratulated Nadhim Zahawi on taking on the role of health minister, when in fact he became finance minister.
Ms Dorries concluded: “I’m sure Boris Johnson will come back someday.
“I’m not going to speculate on when or how, but I don’t think this is the end.”
