Gemma Chan and Shawn Levy developing Netflix Time Travel Limited series – The Hollywood Reporter

Prior to the second half of stranger things season four premieres tomorrow, The Hollywood Reporter has been informed that Netflix and 21 Laps will remain in the supernatural business.

As part of the production company’s overall deal with the streamer, the two made the choice: The moon represents my heart, Pim Wangtechawat’s upcoming debut novel, is in a competitive situation and will develop the project as a limited series. The executive producer alongside Shawn Levy and Josh Barry of 21 Laps is Gemma Chan, who also stars in the story of a British-Chinese family with the secret ability to travel in time. After the parents disappear, their son and daughter search for them over time as they mature.

Netflix senior vice president Emily Morris, who brought the book into the company, will oversee the project for the producers along with manager Moera Ainai.

The moon represents my heart (also the title of a Mandarin pop classic, made famous by Teresa Teng in 1977) will be published next spring by OneWorld Publications in the UK, with Italian rights sold to Keller Editore.

In addition to her upcoming on-screen work (which includes Olivia Wilde’s thriller) don’t worry babyApple’s anthology series on climate change Extrapolations and New Regency’s sci-fi feature Real love), Chan’s slate as executive producer includes an upcoming biopic of Anna May Wong, produced by Nina Yang Bongiovi and Working Title and written by Tony-winning playwright David Henry Hwang.
