“Mostly grandparents and grandchildren… and we ask them a series of questions about each other’s generations.”
The topics that the participants are questioned about vary across the board.
Ripa also called the show more of a “comedy show than a game show” due to the comedic nature of the contestant’s reactions.
“I have my parents who are much older and my children who are much younger and it’s fascinating what their similarities are, what they know about each other’s generation and what they don’t know.
“What they know is always shocking and something to marvel at, but what they don’t know is unbearably funny,” Ripa told the outlet.
When will Generation Gap premiere?
Generation Gap will premiere on Thursday, July 7, 2022.
The show’s description reads: “Kelly Ripa presents the new comedy quiz game show from Emmy® Award-winning producers Jimmy Kimmel and Mark Burnett.
“‘Generation Gap’ links teams of seniors and juniors and challenges them to answer questions about pop culture from each other’s generations.”
On July 6, 2022, Ripa shared a sneak peek of the show on her Instagram.
She captioned the video: “Who’s ready to play #GenerationGap with me tomorrow?! Grab your kids (or your grannies) and tune in to 9/8c on ABC!”
