Google Play points for Google Store credit

TL;DR

  • You can now use Google Play points in the Google Store.
  • You can exchange your points for predefined discount codes.
  • Note: You only have 30 days to redeem your code(s).

Today, the company allows you to convert Google Play points into Google Store discounts.

First spotted by 9to5Google, the program appears to be only active in the United States. Essentially, you can exchange your earned points for discount codes in the Google Store. These codes come in pre-determined denominations: $10, $50, $100, and $200. These cost 500, 2500, 5000 and 10,000 Play Points respectively. You can only “buy” one code from each tier.

Once you have redeemed your points for a discount code, you have 30 days to use that code before it expires. In other words, make sure you’re ready to buy from the Google Store before you redeem your points.

Please note that you cannot stack these discounts. In other words, if you have 3,000 points and buy a $50 code and then use your remaining 500 points for a $10 code, you cannot combine those two codes for one purchase. So plan accordingly.

This new program is just in time for Google’s two newest products: the Google Pixel 6a and Google Pixel Buds Pro. Hopefully the program is still running when the Google Pixel 7 rolls around because a $200 discount on one of those phones would be a great deal.
