Granit Xhaka says new Arsenal Gabriel Jesus’ winning mentality is exactly what the Gunners need on their team.

Mikel Arteta’s squad has been strengthened this summer after the additions of Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Matt Turner.

The North Londoners are aiming for more new recruits before the end of the transfer window, with Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko reportedly going to the club.

Arteta hopes his squad will do one better than last season and qualify for the Champions League.

The Gunners narrowly missed a top four spot as Antonio Conte’s Tottenham took them to fourth.

New striker Jesus got off to a great start when he scored last weekend in Arsenal’s pre-season friendly against Nuremberg.

The Brazil international is a four-time Premier League winner with City, while midfielder Vieira won the Portuguese league title twice in Porto.

Shooting midfielder Xhaka is happy to see players with title-winning experience join the squad.

“Every player we’ve signed who has had this experience” [of winning trophies] bring something more than just competitions and wins, they bring the mentality to win something,” Xhaka told reporters.

‘This is what we need here.

“They have to show that on the field.

‘Gabic [Jesus] knows the Premier League, I think he has won almost everything.

“The most important thing is to bring players who are hungry because you can win a lot of trophies, but these guys want to win a lot more and with us.

“This makes us very happy to have them.”
