Red Dead Online support slows in favor of GTA 6 as GTA Online continues to thrive.
It’s a bit of a hard time for Red Dead Redemption fans. Not only does the rumored remaster of the first game apparently shelved, but Rockstar Games has announced that Red Dead Online (the online multiplayer component of the sequel) will no longer see major updates.
Much like the studio’s remaster projects, this is also because Rockstar is pouring all its energy into Grand Theft Auto 6.
However, this doesn’t mean the game is dead (at least not yet). Red Dead Online is supported with monthly and seasonal events, new single player missions and general improvements to the existing modes.
“Over the past few years, we’ve steadily moved more development resources into the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series – we understand more than ever the need to exceed player expectations and make this next entry the best it can be.” . – and as a result, we’re in the process of making some changes to the way we support Red Dead Online,” explains Rockstar.
“In addition to special seasonal events and experience improvements – plus other changes to improve and maintain a healthy Red Dead Online environment – we plan to build on existing modes and add new telegram missions this year, rather than big ones. deliver theme content updates as in previous years…”
As disappointing as this may seem, it’s not surprising that support is waning. There haven’t been any major updates to Red Dead Online in about a year, leading many to believe that Rockstar had quietly left it.
It was only yesterday that news broke of a fan-made funeral for the game set to be held next week, July 13.
Does this mean that Rockstar will also slow down support for Grand Theft Auto Online? Far from it, as the July updates are nothing short of massive compared to what Red Dead Online has in store.
In addition to the usual improvements and changes, the update expands the careers of Executive, Biker, Gunrunner and Nightclub Owner, adds new missions that give players the chance to be sworn in as a special IAA field officer to investigate a budding criminal conspiracy’ and select GTA$ payouts are increased so you can earn more money quickly.
This week you can also earn three times from casino work, and racing enthusiasts can purchase a new car, the Pfister Astron Custom, and participate in a new time trial. However, the vehicle and time trial are exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.
The thing is, there’s still a lot to come to GTA Online (probably as it remains profitable for Rockstar), with the updates coming throughout the month.
Rockstar’s website has a full overview of what to expect, including new discounts and this month’s benefits for GTA+ Members (like extra cash and a fancy penthouse).
Red Dead Online is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Stadia.
Grand Theft Auto Online is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
