Hate crimes registered by police reach record high after ‘more than a quarter in ONE year’ increase

HATE crimes recorded by police have increased by more than a quarter in 12 months, figures show.

Law enforcement troops registered 155,841 violations, seventy percent of which were racially motivated, Home office statistics show.

Religious hate crimes rose by some 37 percent to reach the highest level since records started ten years ago.

There was a 41 percent increase in sexual orientation offenses and incompetence hate crimes increased by 43 percent.

dr. Hannah Dennis, clinical psychologist who has worked with individuals with learning disabilitiescalled the statistics both “disturbing and shocking”.

She added: “The impact for these individuals lasts for many years and can lead to more mental health problems, more social isolation, low self-esteem and decreased activity levels.”

The sharp increase in the past year for Englishd and Wales was due to the effect of the Covid when lower levels of crime are included.

Government report said it was uncertain whether there has been a real increase in incidents or whether more victims have the confidence to report these crimes.
