HBO, Kate Winslet Herspan for ‘Trust’ Drama – The Hollywood Reporter

Kate Winslet is on her way back to HBO.

the Easttown Mare Emmy winner will star and executive producers Confidence, a limited range in development at the premium cable. The drama is based on Hernan Diaz’s best-selling novel, published by Riverhead Books in May.

Diaz’s novel unfolds using four different voices and in four genres. The HBO project will follow a wealthy financier who reads a novel based on his life and upset about how he and his wife are portrayed. He hires a secretary to haunt a memoir in hopes of fixing the record. However, she becomes aware that he is trying to rewrite history and his wife’s place in it.

Winslet and Diaz will serve as executive producers of Confidence.

Would it go to series, Confidence will be the third collaboration between Winslet and HBO. The previous two, last year’s Easttown Mare and the 2011 mini-series Mildred PierceWinslet earned several Emmys for Best Leading Actress in a Limited Series.

Winslet is about to start production of the feature film read, based on the life of photographer Lee Miller (she is also a producer). The Oscar winner also has a role in James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water, which will be released in December. She is represented by CAA in the United States and United Agents in the UK

Diaz’s first novel, In the distance, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and PEN / Faulkner Award. He is represented by The Clegg Agency and CAA.
