Eight fire engines were reportedly called to the scene, covering approximately 20 acres of land, and firefighters spent 90 minutes putting out the blaze.
A spokesman for the Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received reports of a standing crop fire in fields on Lenham Heath.
“The crew worked hard to bring the fire under control, which covered approximately eight hectares, the equivalent of almost 20 hectares.
“The fire has been brought under control and extinguished. The fire service has escorted people who were in the vicinity to safety.”
The field where the fire broke out is next to the M20 and white smoke plumes could be seen from the highway.
The images of the fire also showed a long line of trucks, a result of the fire second day of travel chaos in the port of Dover.
