The new device in the image is probably the iPhone 13 mini. It seems to be about the same size as the iPhone 6S, which has a slightly larger footprint than the 13mini.

Evans seems to have had problems with a degraded battery and perhaps a non-cooperative Lightning port. Despite that era, the iPhone 6S was still officially supported by OS 15, but its lifespan would have arrived with the public release of iOS 16 scheduled for the fall.
