Home alone maybe one Christmas staple for families all over the world – but not for any of the stars.
Daniel Stern, who played thief Marv Murchins in the original 1990 film and its sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York two years later he admitted that he had only seen the classic holiday film once.
The 66-year-old said he gets “sick” of the films he stars in as soon as he finishes filming and moves on to his next project without thinking – with Home Alone being no exception.
The City Slickers actor made the surprising admission while being interviewed by Richard Madeley, 69, and Charlotte Hawkins49, on today Good morning Great Britain about his new memoir, Home And Alone.
He told ITV viewers: 'It was funny because when I wrote the book, and I wrote about the tarantula scene, I wrote down how I remembered it, what happened and what was funny, and then my daughter read the book in front of me and said, 'That's not what happens in the movie' and I said, 'Oh' and I had to go back and watch the scene again to see how it actually went.
“Once I'm done with the movie, I'm kind of done with the movie – for me personally. I like other people watching it, but I'm a little sick of it.”
However, Daniel described Home Alone as the “blessing of a lifetime” and said he is often stopped on the street by fans of the franchise.
He said: 'Since the movie came out, I've been going through my life with people saying, “We love you, we're watching you, you're a big part of my holiday” and it's so overwhelming sometimes. I don't know why it happened, but it's the blessing of a lifetime.”
Daniel also dished out the trash during a wild night in which he spent $7,000 (£5,480) in a bar using Donald Trump's credit card as the former US president made a cameo in Home Alone 2.
He recalled: “I had met him that day at the shoot and that night me, the stuntmen and a couple of crew guys were in the hotel bar and Mr. Trump was walking through.
'He pointed and was very grateful and said, “Drinks are on me” and so we bought drinks for the whole bar, for the whole night.
'We hit him pretty well with the bill. Liam, my stuntman, we thought it was about $7,000, which is a drop in the bucket for the guy, and he felt good about it, we felt good about it, so that was a win-win. '
It comes after the iconic house was featured in Daniel's Home Alone films put up for sale for $5.25 million (£4.11 million).
The five-bedroom, six-bathroom property, located in the Winnetka neighborhood ChicagoIllinois, was actually used as an exterior for the film – and its 1992 sequel.
But fear not potential buyers, the house looks completely different now – with no trace of Marv's dastardly traps, the awkwardly placed statue in the driveway, that creepy tarantula or that red and green wallpaper adorning all the walls.
Daniel starred alongside Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and John Heard in the first two Home Alone films.
In the iconic original film, the family left their youngest son Kevin (Macaulay) home alone as you fly towards Paris for the holidays, unknowingly forcing him to tackle two burglars on his own.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX.
