Two middle-aged women returning from shopping for the Sallah celebration have died in an accident in the metropolis of Kano.

The women identified as Khadija and Rasheeda, were married to two brothers whose names were given as Nura Garba Khalil and Adamu Garba Khalil.

The driver of the car is said to have lost control of the car and crashed into a lamppost after a car went off the track.

Nura told the Daily Trust that the women met their untimely deaths when a car veered towards their path and they tried to maneuver but ended up hitting the street lamp.

He said;

“I was not at the scene of the accident, but I was told that a driver almost hit his car. So, you know, as a woman she tried to drive away, then the car went off the road and hit the pole.

“They went to the market to get Sallah Stuff for the families.

“I am really terrified. I can only pray to Allah to forgive them and I will try to be patient. We may have argued with my wife, but we solved all the problems without anyone being involved, including our parents.”

An eyewitness identifying himself as Badamasi said the car skidded off the road and hit the lamppost after descending from State Road Flyover along Government House Road.

The eyewitness said;

“One of them died instantly while the other was taken to hospital alive. There was no car near their own front or back, their car just slammed into the pillar.”

Khadija left behind three children, while Rasheeda had four children.
