As for messages, blocking people won’t delete messages sent or received during chats with them. The conversation with the other user will still appear in the list when you go to your messages. However, neither user can see new messages in the chat after one has been blocked.

How do you know if someone has blocked you on Instagram
There are a few things when it comes to Instagram’s blocking system. Let’s run through some of the easy ones.
Find them on your own Instagram account

Search for a user who has blocked you.
Tap the magnifying glass-shaped button at the bottom and type in their username; they may have blocked you if they don’t show up. The main shortcoming of this method is that there are several other reasons why they may not show up when you search for them. If they have deleted or disabled their Instagram account, their presence on the platform will disappear along with the rest of their Instagram data. So they will not appear when someone searches for them.
Find them on an alternative Instagram account
Log in to an alternative Instagram account and look for uses that you think have blocked you. If that user shows up when you search for them in your alternate account, they haven’t disabled or deleted their account. If so, chances are they’ve blocked your main account.

Sign out of Instagram in your browser and try to reach the page of the person you think has blocked you. You do this by going to www.instagram.com/[insert their username here].

Go to your Instagram posts. Even if you’re blocked, you can see your chat history with that person.
Try going to their Instagram profile from the chat. If nothing shows up at all, chances are they’ve blocked you.

There is an app that we covered it before called tracking meter. This app is free to use; However, if you buy a subscription and allow the app to access your Instagram account, you’ll be told when you’ve been blocked by someone and who that person is.
How do you know if someone has muted you on Instagram
Unfortunately there aren’t many ways to tell if someone has it muted you on Instagram. In our tests, not only do you not get a notification when someone mutes you, but you also don’t get a notification when they unmute you.
At that point it’s a gamble. Did they not like your posts or view your stories? If you look at your list of followers and they are still there, they may have muted you. But maybe they just don’t interact much with Instagram or haven’t been online in a while.
