How iPhone 14 sales compare to iPhone 12 and iPhone 13

iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max

US sales for the iPhone 14 remain strong compared to the 2022 iPhone 13, survey data suggests, with the iPhone 14 Pro Max the country’s top seller.

The iPhone 14 series is very popular and seems to be doing better than the previous generation. In studies from Wave7 Research, summarized by JP Morgan, it appears that the iPhone 14 will outperform sales of the iPhone 13.

According to the study, which looked at sales trends across carriers in February 2023, the overall share of the iPhone 14 series declined relative to comparable phones. The better traction for the Samsung Galaxy S23 range is believed to have helped the South Korean giant regain some ground in the ongoing rivalry.

However, it seems that the iPhone 14 is still doing well historically at this stage of the product cycle. That 62% isn’t quite on the same level as the 64% for the iPhone 12 cycle at this point in the year, but it’s higher than the 59% share for the iPhone 13 cycle.

Of the models, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the best-selling with a share of 19% in February. The second place was the iPhone 14 with 18%, the iPhone 14 Pro third with 13% and the iPhone 14 Plus with 7%.

The comment echoes similar comments made in March following the release of January demand figures. In the March report, the iPhone share fell from 70% in December to 69% in January. In that report, the iPhone 14 beat both the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 cycles, by 67% and 60% respectively.
