How Princess Anne reacted when Mike Tindall's trousers ripped in front of her | Royal | News

Princess Anne showed her sharp wit when she witnessed her son-in-law Mike Tindall's trousers being ripped during a family gathering.

The Princess Royal, who celebrates her 74th birthday today (Thursday 15 August), had a terse three-word response when she spotted the cheeky slogan on Tindall's underwear at Zara's 30th birthday party. The former rugby star recounted the hilarious incident on I'm A Celebrity in 2022.

He told campmate Seann Walsh: “I was dancing on the dance floor, I had baggy trousers on, a whole outfit, but it was quite tight. Nothing ever fits a rugby player's bum and legs, so I was dancing with my mother-in-law and I did ash-drop for my mother-in-law.

“My pants ripped, right in front of her. It happened that my boxer shorts that I was wearing at the time said 'nibble my balls'.

“When I turned around, she said, ‘I don’t want to.’ I said, ‘I’m going,’ and walked away,” reports the mirror.

Mike and Zara first crossed paths during his participation in the 2003 World Cup. They announced their engagement in 2010 and married a year later.

The couple have since welcomed daughters Mia, 10, and Lena, 6, and their three-year-old son Lucas.

Despite Mike's close bond with Princess Anne, he once turned down an unusual request from her before the wedding. She suggested he have surgery to repair his repeatedly broken nose before marrying Zara.

Mike turned down Anne's half-serious request to straighten his nose, which would have clashed with his exercise regime. He shared the story with the Radio Times after the wedding in 2011, noting: “It was a light-hearted, funny remark. It wasn't a big deal, and look at my nose – can you blame her?”
