Netflix series How to build a sex room sure gives Sell sunset a run for money when it comes to lust for property.

Presented by British interior designer Melanie Rose, the program sees lovers and singletons desperate to spice up their home lose their minds when they finally given a raunchy makeover.

Among the stars of the series are Lester and Soriya, two members of a polyamorous family who want a sexy space that can accommodate all seven members and cater to all their different sexual kinks and emotional needs.

Located in the basement of Lester’s Denver home, the finished room was stunning, leaving the family speechless and granting wishes, such as a golden shower room for Soriya.

But now that the show is here, has the sex space been put to good use and has the group’s sex life improved (or not)?

Speaking exclusively with metro.co.ukSoriya and Lester, along with Prince, Arturo, Catherine and Nathan of the family, reveal everything.

Before Melanie did her magic, the family agreed it was difficult to arrange date nights, taking about 30 minutes to set up a suitable space while wreaking havoc.

“It would take someone to carry a TV out of the house to put it on the back porch and we’d haul all the pillows, blankets, and cushions we could find onto the deck. It was an effort and it required group planning’, Nathan explains.

“There would also be people falling off the table or just spreading all over the place, as well as injuries.”

Now that’s a thing of the past, as Lester goes on to say that the convenience and accessibility of the room has increased the amount of time the family spends together to at least once a week.

He says, “We’ve become much more consistent now to the point where we realize we need a much larger volume of sheets and blankets for sales.”

However, there is one member of the fam, Prince, who has not used the sex room at all.

Fear not – it’s because he moved from Colorado to Indiana, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t longed for it from far away.

“I was never allowed to play in the room,” he complains. “But for me just seeing pictures and thinking about the room from a distance has definitely improved my sex life because I just get wet right away even thinking about it.” And [my] panties just start to fall.’

For Catherine, it’s not just the increased frequency of time she spends together, but also the ability to try out new kinks that have given her sex life a boost.

“It was nice to try new things and have the space to do it,” she reveals. ‘Because in an ordinary, small bedroom you sometimes don’t have the space for that.’

“We can tie the cage to you and spin you around the room now,” Lester adds.

Soriya admits she hasn’t been able to enjoy the room as much as she’d like, especially since it can be “challenging” to get together with all the members living in different households.

However, she managed to live out her fantasies in the room’s golden shower area during a joint birthday party with Nathan.

“There must have been about 30 or 40 people peeing on me,” she recalls, with Lester adding, “There was a line in the hallway leading out to the backyard.”

To host these kinds of parties and entertainment, the family has also introduced a “sexy” addition to the house: a calendar.

While raving about the virtues of meticulous planning, Nathan and Prince say, “When it comes to families, especially of this size, calendars are one of the sexiest things.

“There’s even an entire room cleaning checklist that we go through and use.”

In addition to making the most of the sex space, the family wanted to challenge the misconceptions of polyamory, emphasizing that it is about intimacy and emotional connection as much as it is about sex.

“What I like the most is that we can all hang out there and watch movies,” Soriya says.

How to Build a Sex Room is available to stream on Netflix.
