How to Connect Airpods to Android

Although Apple loves its walled garden, Apple AirPods and AirPods Pro can connect to android devices. Why: Bluetooth connectivity is a standard on millions of devices, including Android smartphones. Open the AirPods case and make sure the AirPods are inside the case, not outside. In, not out. When you are ready to pair:

1. First, press the white button on the back of the AirPods case. The single LED on the housing will glow white. You must continue to hold the button until the LED pulses white. Once this is the case, you are ready to pair the AirPods with your Android phone.

How do you connect the AirPods to a Windows PC?

There is a similar process to pairing the AirPods with a Windows PC, be it a desktop or a laptop.

Perhaps it would be too good to be true if every feature from Apple’s AirPods carried over to Android seamlessly. While certain iOS features of the AirPods are not natively compatible with Android, you can restore some of them by installing Android apps.

Siri

Siri, Apple’s virtual voice assistant, is understandably exclusive to iOS. While Android has its own voice assistants such as: Google Assistant or bixby, they are not supported by AirPods. This means that any commands or gestures commonly used to activate Siri via the AirPods will not work on your Android device.

However, you can still use Google Assistant for your AirPods using the Assistant Trigger App. You can summon a voice assistant with a double tap and check the battery levels of your AirPods, all for free.

Automatic switching

Once connected to the iCloud, your AirPods can detect any other iOS devices associated with your Apple ID in range and automatically pair with them. Of course, this only works with Apple devices and if you’re switching from one Android device to another, you’ll have to do it manually through the Bluetooth settings.

1. Open the case and store the earbuds inside.
2. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your smart phone.

5. Continue to hold the button until the housing LED flashes white.
6. You can now pair the factory reset AirPods with your Android smartphone.
